One of the
guitars currently in the shop is the
resurrection and customizing of a
mid-1970’s Rickenbacker 350. Bought by a
customer through an online auction site,
the guitar arrived at my shop with no
electronics or hardware, the remnants of
its original “Jetglo” finish, “Bondo” in
place of its middle pickup route, and
the remains of its fingerboard that had
been removed from the neck.
After having
completed the removal of the finish, it
was customized with a “1 o’clock”
F-hole, body binding of checkerboard /
white on the top and white on the back,
and a new 25.5” scale bound fingerboard
with vintage-style “crushed pearl”
inlays. Currently being painted it’s
original “Jetglo” finish, the guitar
will feature three scatterwound toaster
pickups wired with a stereo harness,
trapeze tailpiece, vintage-style truss
rod cover, and Grover vintage-style
Sta-Tite tuning machines.
